Model's Description: Maya gouged-incised cache vessel 3d model contains 299,999 polygons and 155,854 vertices. This 3d model shows the decorated side of a square ceramic offering box in the collection of the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame (2005.061). Two figures are shown seated on top of living mountains with a stela between them. The stela features round cartouches with hieroglyphs. At least some of them appear to be day signs. The headdress of the left figure is marked with the head of the so-called Square-Nosed Beast (also known as the “Sip Monster” - either designation is just a nickname in the absence of a secure decipherment for the logogram). The headdress of the right figure seems to be carrying the so-called “Foliated Ajaw” symbol thus identifying the protagonist as a legendary ruler. The overall style feels at home around 450-550 C.E |
