Model's Description: Blue Anchor Cliff Profile 3d model contains 999,999 polygons and 498,965 vertices. A cliff profile from Blue Anchor, Somerset showing the Blue Anchor Fault and change in geology. This is an example of a normal fault, where younger rocks have been downthrown by tectonic forces as the crust pulled apart to sit alongside older rocks. Change in the angle of the cliffs shows different geologies. Fresh rock surfaces on the red / pink sedimentary mudstone whereas the grey is a marl making up the bulk of the cliff exposures. Lots of active mass-movment and cliff falls present as well as some cliff undercutting, especially in Mercia Mudstone. Rocks are a mixture of Triassic and Jurassic ages |
