Tetradrachm with the head of Alexander the Great with Ammon’s horn and diadem looking to the right. On the reverse, Athena Nikephoros sits in armor with shield and spear. Athena’s nickname “Nikephoros” comes from the fact that she is depicted here with the goddess Nike on her outstretched right hand. In the left-hand field of the coin in front of the goddess is the letter M. The coin inscription reads BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΛYΣIMAXOY. Although Alexander the Great is depicted, according to the inscription, King Lysimachus was the mint master. Lysimachus was a general of Alexander the Great and one of the Diadochi after his death.
