Model's Description: Rapanui Beach (North End) 3d model contains 690,419 polygons and 413,891 vertices. The geology of the cliffs at Rapanui Beach, North Taranaki, New Zealand. Exposed in the middle of the cliffs is an ancient submarine landslide. Above it sit sandstones that have been eroded by an angular unconformity called the Rapanui Surface. This young 125 thousand year old wave cut surface extends over the entire Taranaki Region, and helps constrain how quickly this part of the coastline is rising due to tectonics, which gives us these fantastic coastal cliff sections to study |
