Portret mlade djevojke (Plautile?), Solin 3.st./3rd century , dim. 22,5 cm x 12 cm Primjetna je velika sličnost s prikazima koje pouzdano možemo odrediti kao portret Fulvije Plautile, Karakaline supruge, no teško je biti sasvim siguran da je riječ o mladoj princezi. Izvjesno je tek da portret mlade djevojke potječe iz antičke Salone, pa se portret kolokvijalno nazivaa „Solinjanka“. Ovaj izniman portret pažljivo oblikovanih detalja, smatra se vrhunskim dosegom portretne umjetnosti s početka 3. stoljeća. A striking similarity with known depictions of Fulvia Plautila, the spouse of Caracalla, has been pointed out but one cannot be absolutely certain that this is indeed the portrait of the young princess. It is nonetheless certain that this young girl’s portrait was found in ancient Salona and it is thus often called “the Salonitan girl”. It is an outstanding and delicately crafted piece of art, considered by many as the highest achievement of early 3rd century AD Roman portraiture |
