|
Model's Description: Mesolithic Quartzite Pebble Hammer, Kent 3d model contains 661,138 polygons and 330,569 vertices. This stone tool was found in ploughsoil in Kent, England. Quartzite pebble hammers with cental hourglass perforations date from the Mesolithic (c.8000-4000 cal BC). The perforation on this example was made by pecking and was subsequently ground smooth. A wooden handle woud have been inserted through the hole and that was probably bound in position. Small pecked facets on the leading edges indicate that this tool was used as a hammer; it may also have functioned as a weight on a digging stick. 72.8mm long, 50.3mm wide by 20.2mm thick. Weight: 106g Model by Hugo Anderson-Whymark. Canon 70D, 226 images. 8th Feb 2018 |
