King Menkaura, also known as Mycerinus, was a pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt who ruled from 2490 to 2472 BC. Menkaura is known for building the smallest of the three pyramids of Giza. Although it is smaller than the other two pyramids, it is still an impressive structure that stands at around 66 meters (215 feet) tall. The pyramid of Menkaura was originally covered in white limestone, which gave it a brilliant shine in the sun. However, over time, the limestone was removed, and today the pyramid is made of rough-hewn blocks of dark grey granite. Menkaura was known for being a just and reasonable ruler. One story tells of how he punished a high official for mistreating a commoner, demonstrating his commitment to protecting the rights of all his subjects |
