Origin Site: Kaminaljuyu, Guatemala Artifact Identification: Stela 10 Location Information: Museo Nacional Country: Guatemala (curated at the Museo Nacional de Arqueología y Etnología) Description: Three larger fragments of the “black altar” and one smaller partial fragment area. This carved scene contains three figures and two hieroglyph block areas. The piece is on display at the Museo Nacional de Arqueología y Etnología in Guatemala City. It sits on a cement block and wood display cradle, and is in the salon including many sculptures from Kaminaljuyu. University of South Florida researchers Travis Doering and Lori Collins documented the piece using triangulation scanning, and the USF Libraries Digital Heritage and Humanities Collections model of the 3D data highlights the carved surface details with shading and rendering using ambient occlusion.
