Model's Description:

Herm of Dionysus 3d model contains 10,482 polygons and 5,243 vertices.

Herm of Dionysus Luna Marble. Found in 1933 on the Via dei Fori Imperiali in Rome, Italy. Now in the Museo Montemartini, Rome. Herms are squared stone pillars with a sculpted head at the top and, typically, genitalia on the lower section. The Herm form originated in Ancient Greece and was adopted by the Romans. In Ancient Greece, Herms were placed at crossings, boundaries, and borders. Sometimes they functioned as signposts, when near a road, with distances inscribed upon them. This use may derive from the Greek God Hermes, the messenger god who was also the patron of travelers and wayfarers. The Herm of Dionysus shown here is missing its marble shaft. Dionysus was the Greco-Roman god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, and fertility. He is typically shown, as here, with grapes and grape leaves in his hair, and, in early representations, a long, curly beard
