The Boeing 757 is an American-made, short, medium, and long-range, narrow-body commercial aircraft. It first entered service in 1983, meant to replace the Boeing 727. The production of the 757 ended on October 28, 2004 after 1,050 units had been built. The 757-200, the original version of the aircraft, is the most widely ordered version of the 757. The 757-300, the stretched version, is the longest narrow-body twinjet ever produced. The 757 can be considered one of Boeing’s most successful models. However, sales fell in the late 90s, causing production to cease. Demand for the 757-200 was continued, primarily due to its usefulness on routes between New York and Western Europe.
